Installation by Luke Denny, Alpentile

  1. This kitchen back splash looks clean and simple, but it was quite a challenging install. I cut 20x20 porcelain down into fat rectangles, and paired with a glass pencil liner. The challenge: the pencil liners were 3/16" thick, and the porcelain was over 1/2" thick. I set the porcelain first, with spacers for the pencils, and then came back later with a custom made jig to float the joints so the pencil liners would appear to be the same thickness as the porcelain, and the entire installation was a nice even plane.
