We at Alpentile are happy to give another batch of beautiful quilts to the Soul Sanctuary in the Desert! Each quilt is an individual work of art, hand-made with love for the women and children who will benefit from the warmth and comfort each quilt provides.
With this second donation, I was able to participate in the process of creating these quilts! So in August I drove out to the Peach Pie Quilting Studio in Vista CA, where my parents included me in the selection of finishing touches for these one-of-a-kind works, donated by local quilters and also by the members of 'The Beehive' quilt group out of Vancouver, WA.
So many quilts waiting to keep new owners warm
Here are the quilt tops, displayed on the long-arm quilting machine and waiting for our selection of thread colors, stitching patterns, and batting.
Selecting stitching designs for the quilts
We carefully assigned a stitched design to each quilt based on the theme of fabrics used by the quilters who spent hours piecing together each top. From puppy dog prints to sweet florals in pretty pastels, each quilt received a complimentary design.
Dalmations and Dog-bones!
A 'Fire-engines and Dalmations' themed boys quilt was matched with a fire-hydrant and paw-print design in bright red thread. Cute!
From this point, the quilts were handed off for final assembly. Soon these quilts will be keeping kids cozy and warm!
If you are interested in helping us with this project, I am currently collecting 100% cotton fabric scraps to donate to the quilters. If you have fabric you would like to donate, or know someone who may be interested in being a part of this fun project, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org! Thank you!
